DataSkills by The Open University is a 16 week part time training programme which combines the Open University’s fifty years’ experience of promoting education for all and supporting busy working adults to learn, with real-world careers insights from Microsoft, one of the world’s largest IT companies.

This Skills Bootcamp provides the learner with the skills required to run AI processes and support business needs. Specifically, the Bootcamp will cover how to automate business processes, gain insight through data analysis and engage with customers and employees.

The Software Academy is full-stack software development course aimed at upskilling/reskilling diverse individuals to an entry-level standard. The course is aimed at people who are looking for a long-term career in software development. During the Software Academy students will earn the BCS Foundation Certificate in Agile. On completion of the BCS certificate students will receive a free 1-year Associate Membership to BCS.

The course has taken into consideration all the critical skills necessary to ensure that our graduates gain the skills they need for a long-term career in tech. The Skills Bootcamps in Analysing Data will enable you to use data tools and gain an accredited qualification, with the end goal being considered for opportunities and vacancies to progress your career.

Our Skills Boot Camp lasts for 16 weeks with 4 hours of contact time each week plus additional self-directed learning. It is delivered online by our experienced academics with keynote lecturers from our industry partners.The course is designed to meet the need of industry looking to make sense of their data, identify trends and communicate these persuasively, make intelligent business forecasts and take informed decisions – using off the shelf products. Machine learning and artificial intelligence applications will also be covered.

Network Engineers deal with both hardware and software issues. They are a key part of putting things right quickly when networks fail, and they communicate problems that they have identified with network integrity or performance rapidly to ensure service is resumed and downtime minimised. Network Engineers help customers both technical and non-technical to install computer networks, maintain them, and offer technical support to users where necessary.

An Infrastructure Technician provides support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non routine problems. This course has been designed with industry experts to prepare learners for employment within different roles in the digital and IT sectors or enable progression to higher routes.

A Software Development Technician typically works as part of a software development team, to builds simple software components (whether web, mobile or desktop applications) to be used by other members of the team as part of larger software development projects. They will interpret simple design requirements for discrete components of the project under supervision. The approach will typically include implementing code, which other team members have developed, to produce the required component.

As an Infrastructure Technician, you will learn the key skills and steps that go into aiding a customer with their technical needs. You will learn how to: gather information to determine customer and system requirements, prepare and present a proposal for the customer before planning, installing and configuring the network.You will also learn how to test and troubleshoot the configuration, before preparing documentation for the customer to sign off on. Lastly you will also acquire the key knowledge to provide ongoing support for any customer.

The Skills Bootcamp in IT, Networking and Infrastructure provides a solid grounding in computing at Level 3. Students can build on these should they decide to continue their studies beyond the Skills Bootcamp onto a full-time Level 3 qualification.
